About Leighton Buzzard Ramblers
Leighton Buzzard Ramblers are part of The Ramblers Association, which works to keep the countryside open to all. We are one of four rambler groups in the Bedfordshire area.
Leighton Buzzard group has been leading walks since 1985. We offer a varied programme of walks, details of which are posted in advance on our website and the national Ramblers website. Our regular walking days are Thursdays and Sundays, but sometimes we offer walks on alternate Tuesdays and occasionally on a Saturday. In the summer months, when light permits, we offer shorter evening pub walks every Wednesday, which is a great opportunity to see the countryside in a different light. All walks vary by location, distance and terrain, as chosen by that day’s leader. Our walks cover a wide radius across the three counties and sometimes beyond. Distances vary between 5-14 miles, although the average walk is around 7 miles. Our walks programme is constantly changing, so regular visits to the website are recommended.
Leighton Buzzard Ramblers also lead weekly Wellbeing Walks on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council. These walks comprise 30-40 mins, 60 mins or 90 mins. Full details are available on the website.
We are a super friendly group and have a very active social programme. Past events have included quiz nights, bingo, a ceilidh, boules and croquet, archery and even gliding. We also organise an annual dinner, summer garden party and Christmas lunch. Most of all though, we just enjoy getting together for a drink in the pub after a lovely walk.
Each Spring we also offer an annual walking break with a 4-night stay and five days of walking. In recent years we have enjoyed fabulous trips to the Lake District, Isle of Wight and Scarborough.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED: You are very welcome to come along and try us out on a few walks before there is any requirement to join The Ramblers Association. However, once you have joined, you are then welcome to walk with any registered Rambler group in the UK, and you will also receive a discount in many outdoor retail shops.
